Preparing for your Journey

We recommend the following protocol as you prepare during the final week leading up to your journey. These recommendations come from best practices in the field backed up by science, common sense, and our own experience.

  • Breathing exercises, attention to breath

  • Ensure that you’re getting enough sleep

  • Quiet time, contemplation, meditation

  • Light exercise and stretching

  • Contemplating what you wish to get out of this experience, journaling

  • Thinking about and setting your intention

  • Healthy eating

  • No caffeine (1 day before)

  • Eliminating recreational drugs, and limiting alcohol

  • Refraining from watching TV, using social media, and reading the news the night before

  • Fasting 3-6 hours before the experience itself

On the day of the journey, wear comfortable clothing. Ensure that you’re well hydrated. Feel free to bring any small totems or objects as supports. If you have your own yoga mat, cushion, and/or pillow that you’d prefer to use, bring with you. If you wish to bring a journal and writing tool, please do so.

Also, you may wish to bring a few photos of you as a child, and also a few photos of your parents, siblings, children, and other significant people in your life.
